Shaw Nature Reserve, formerly Shaw Arboretum, is operated as an extension of Missouri Botanical Garden. It offers 14 miles of hiking trails of different lengths, leading through a variety of habitats - prairies, wetlands, river bottom land- as well as scenic drives. Several trails are wheelchair accessible.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, free for children 12 and under.

Most trails in Shaw are wide and well maintained, making it an ideal destination for hiking during tick season.
With its variety of trails of different styles and lengths, Shaw is a good place to hike with children. Educational events and classes are offered, check under Area Information for details.

Even in fall, the wildflowers were spectacular; in summer, they must be stunning.
